Painting in April 2023 Newsletter

Painting? I hope that all you creatives out there are doing some form of art! My go to is painting or sketching, but there are so many artistic forms you can try. I love to listen to classical music or sometimes rock music as I find it guides the artistic process.

Here is a painting produced in response to listening to ‘Adagio for Strings’ by Samuel Barber.

One of the activities I enjoy most is conducting art workshops and I am really proud to say that one of the artists who attends my workshops is about to have her own exhibition on what we designate as the Featured Artist Wall.

Bridie’s exhibition

Bridie Amelia Schmidt will show her work in ‘No Time Like The Present’ at Lennox Arts Collective  April 14 – 27 2023. We are open 10 – 3pm.

Each year I also tutor the Ballina Art Society which is great fun. A lovely group of painters, pastel artists, mixed media artists and watercolorists.

I have been painting some interiors while the weather has been very hot and my latest is called ‘Contemplation Corner’, which is a corner of the studio and is where I do a lot of thinking, such as planning workshops, working out what to put into my next exhibition (coming up 23 June – 6 July) …here are some of the works that will probably be included. I also fall asleep on the couch quite often – super comfortable!!

I was meant to be in the Outback this week, painting with a group, but due to unforeseen personal complications, have been unable to go, so I’ll paint, contemplate and sleep instead!
