These images relate to my visits to India in the 1970’s – my take on a trip down the Holy Ganges at dawn….
Images of India from my visit in 2011
“Dehli Streetscape” is a scene from a street outside my hotel in Delhi. It had a totally faded beauty and in the early morning looked deserted. Bicycles are a favourite form of travel.
I spent time in a village in Rajastan, called Ghanerao. I had travelled there to attend my son and daughter in law’s wedding. What a fantastic colourful and welcoming place! We stayed in the Royal Palace.
“Ghanero Village” is a street scene in the early dawn. I also encountered “The Cobbler” in the village.
I was lucky enough to have the Maharanee’s suite of rooms – they are the middle row of windows in the “Palace Rajahstan” painting. The artwork next to it is a view from the palace courtyard.
The women in their glorious saris welcomed us to their village near Ghanerao and captured the essence that is India.- Delhi Streetscape $250
