Seascapes are a major part of my artistic output, I live near the beach and my husband is a surfer and I enjoy swimming, so it has been a large part of my life – all of the paintings on this page are inspired by that close affinity.I walk along the beach at Lennox Head (called Seven Mile Beach) as many mornings as possible – it is there that I have so much inspiration for my seascapes. There is an extraordinary feeling of exhilaration in breathing in the sea and sand all around me. The sea changes from minute to minute and there are many different kinds of seabirds – gulls, terns, pelicans and the birds of prey – the Brahminy kite. My seascapes are painted with some artistic licence – there is always more colour than anyone imagines in the water – reflections of the sky, the sun, storm clouds and sand.

One of the paintings in the gallery above, depicting an Osprey followed by a flock of seagulls was inspired by a walk along Seven Mile Beach at Lennox Head. A fisherman had left some substantial pieces of fish on the beach, I was examining these when a large and impressive Osprey swooped onto the largest piece of fish and made off with it, followed by a flock of screaming Silver Gulls!
The seascape at left is oil on canvas and was inspired by the glorious sunrise at Hanalei Bay, Kauai on Christmas morning – where we spent a very special holiday with children and grandchildren. The sun came from behind me and gradually turned the clouds and water gold and pink. The Pass is at the southern end of Byron Bay and I like to swim there on Sundays with a great group of friends.- The Estuary, oil on canvas 46 x 92cm [SOLD]
