Great to be back home in Lennox Head, we DO live in paradise, and last evening we dropped in to the Art House at Newrybar (Northern Rivers, NSW) to check some water inspired art and which included a special piece of  surfboard art. This is an exhibition to support the Northern Rivers Community Foundation, who support locals such as young people living with a disability to live their lives to the fullest and to help with training and employment.

The exhibition showcased ‘water’ and my husband, Richard, a veteran surfer-come ‘ancient mariner’ , was asked to exhibit one of the surfboards he had shaped and ‘glassed’ (finished with fibreglass) which was made in collaboration with an artist from the Lennox Arts Collective, Mark Waller. The beautiful surfboard features a breaking wave on the underside, is a collecter’s item and is for sale for $2250.00.

The Art House is a lovely old timber home, restored and modernised with a lovely ambience. It can be rented for vacations and also functions as an art gallery. On display last night was various surfing memorabilia, art photography, paintings and some magnificent ceramic work – I was very taken with the carved ceramic work by Byron Bay artist, Jules Hunt Have a look at the photograph of the carved leaf ceramic lamp in the photos on this post
