Extremely close to the end of the year – lots to share in the November Art Newsletter and lots of great stuff coming up in 2017 – so read on!
Firstly what a fantastic show we have had (and its still on until next weekend) of the work by people who have attended classes through 2016. We had an all-time high number of entries and the number of people who came to opening night was so large that we had people spilling out onto the street – luckily no rain! Some photos in the gallery below……
I have to congratulate the people who came to classes with me over the year – great enthusiasm and huge creativity! If you want to see some of their work, click on this link I have also posted my timetable for January to April 2017 – click here….
One of the fun things to do is a commission for someone – it means they like your work which is a huge compliment, but it is also a little intimidating in case they don’t like it – but you’ve just got to ‘give it a go’! I did one recently for the lovely Patricia Bakker, principal at Taxpresso Accounting in Lennox Head – she wanted to bring the beach into her waiting room. I called the finished piece ‘Beach Infinity’.
The next big item on our agenda at Lennox Arts Collective is our annual ‘Nothing over $300’ exhibition – you will find great Christmas gifts – ranging from great stocking fillers like Mug Cakes for $4 (I hear a new flavour has been produced), art cards at $5, solargraphistic kits for $20, 100% hand screen printed tea towels $22 and tee shirts for the man in your life $39, photo prints of the local area on paper, canvas and timber – various prices and of course, original art at a very reasonable price – come along on 25th November at 5.30pm for the opening, it will be on for the whole of December.
I had an absolutely wonderful time at a workshop over this weekend (29/30 October) with Jo Bertini – she is a fabulous artist and a superb teacher – I feel I have learnt sooo much. You can see my efforts at the end of this post.
My last Wednesday workshop for 2016 is 23rd November as I am off to the UK to welcome my fourth grandchild and to have Christmas with the others as they now all live in England – at least they are all in the same country now!! I will have a perfectly dreamy time visiting heritage homes and the magnificent British art galleries – hopefully I will return with lots of ideas for workshops and art retreats – note that I still have one or two places on the French retreat in May 2017.
